For over 30 years, the Safe Community Coalition of McLean (SCC) has brought together families, educators, professionals, and community leaders to promote prevention, connection, and youth wellbeing.
The Safe Community Coalition's mission is to provide programs and resources that reduce stress, foster mental wellness, and empower our youth to thrive and make responsible choices about their health and safety.
The Safe Community Coalition of McLean (SCC) believes that prevention starts with knowledge, strong relationships, and accessible support. By fostering informed conversations and proactive engagement, we help build a safer, healthier future for the youth in our community. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that for more than 30 years has worked to foster mental wellness and prevent substance misuse among youth and families in the McLean and Langley High School pyramids and surrounding communities.
SCC brings together parents, students, educators, and mental health professionals to create a supportive, informed, and connected community. Through a wide range of programs, speakers, and educational resources, SCC helps young people navigate the pressures and challenges of growing up today while equipping families with tools to encourage resilience and healthy decision-making.
Founded in 1995, SCC was created in response to a shared community commitment to support young people and families through prevention and education.
Over the decades, SCC has evolved alongside the community—responding to emerging challenges, strengthening partnerships, and expanding its reach—while remaining rooted in its core belief that prevention starts with connection, knowledge, and care.
Today, SCC continues to serve as a trusted local resource and convener, bringing people together to create a healthier future for our community.
SCC works in partnership with schools, nonprofits, local leaders, and mental health professionals to address evolving community needs. By fostering collaboration and shared responsibility, SCC amplifies its impact and ensures programs remain accessible and relevant.
